I just realized I’m so bad at keeping up with who’s dating who and when and who’s enemies or not that more than once in my life, I’ve had the following exchange:

“Hey, you two are really cute together, you’re like the best couple ever.”

“We broke up. A week ago.”

“…”

“…”

Or sometimes it’d be this:

“You wanna split the difference for a new game for x’s birthday?”

“We don’t speak to each other anymore. Don’t you read my blog/read my facebook?”

“I just thought all those passive-aggressive song lyrics were just because you liked Alanis Morisette alot.”

Pic is unrelated.

Almost done with the movie - but I need your help.

So finally, I’m also happy with the flick. I’ve edited it for about 2-3 weeks straight, stopping for finals. And necessary things. Or, almost.

Y’see, my titles suck. I’m very bad at coming up with titles. I mean, I can, but this flick is hard to determine a title for. I played with Walking After You, but it has alot of cheese/obvious factor involved. Most of the other ones are too horrible to mention. Also, low on music. I’ve gotten alot of suggestions, but nothing sticks out as THE soundtrack, stuff that defines the movie.

A very rough cut can be viewed at www.vimeo.com/rabidfoxfilms  under it’s very crummy title of Unrequited. It is in no way connected to this new cut, other than using the same footage culled from the same shoot/telling roughly the same story. This will at least reflect the spirit of the original, if not its ultimate goal. It has some terrible dubbing, poor music, and the pacing isn’t there.

So why am I posting this crap? So, maybe, you guys can help. I wanna ask you if you have any suggestions as far as a title goes. Or, soundtrack suggestions. I thank you all in advance either way.

I can’t give you much, except maybe a shout out for your blog under a special thanks section in the credits if I use your idea. And the movie would be available on the internet after a bit, so you can watch it there. Eventually, I’ll probably score it myself or with rainbowsandshrapnel but until then (and at that point I’d be able to release it commercially/exhibit it at film festivals without issue), you’ll be able to watch it for free online. Or beyond. I haven’t really decided yet.

Go ahead and throw me some ideas. There are no stupid ideas, fire away!

So, Tumblr, what say you?

Good movies on Tumblr today. Between this and Boondock Saints, I’m glad both are on Netflix so I can watch them for ever and ever.

2 seconds

Every single person I’m friends with. Even the ones who say a bunch of bullshit. Hey, it says “saw you for like 2 seconds and it made my day,” not “listened to you rant about how I’m an idiot for supporting liberal social policies for 2 hours and it made my day.”

Spending forever on editing

1st cut - Completed sometime Saturday evening/early Sunday morning.

2nd cut - Completed late sunday

3rd cut - Completed mondayish at some point.

4th cut - completed at 4:45am this morning, currently converting to AVCHD. (Won’t be done until 8-9pm tonight.)

So, yeah. Since last week I’ve been working on cutting this flick. And since then, yep, 4 totally new cuts. Taking Tyler’s advice into consideration…I managed to nail out 6 minutes of ok footage…I still feel ambivalent about the feeling of the piece, cause there’s no music, I’m missing a new title, the sound took forever to mix properly (and I’m sending it to an audiophile to watch over, so look out for cuts 5-9 before the end of the week).

I’m worried about the pacing, the visuals, the acting, the color…all of it. So much confusion has never been expressed over one short film before. Once I view it, guaranteed I’ll spot 9 million mistakes. And watch Tyler spot 3 million beyond that. Couldn’t ask for a better collaborator, though. It’s kinda funny though - swore this would be twice-three times the length of the original…yet it’s only 3:49 longer than the original now. I’ve been told it’s a huge step up, but I’m not sure. Once the premiere’s been had and the DVDs are securely with the actors, I’ll probably post it online for everyone to watch. Maybe sell DVDs, but very unlikely (it’s 8:49 long, you can only do so much to make it worth purchasing).

Hey, y’all. Answer me this: I’m working on an extended version of my latest flick, and need to retitle it desperately…also need to add music. Got any ideas for either?
